Health Affairs Briefing Features Lab Research on Structural Racism in Health

October 1, 2023

At a recent Health Affairs virtual briefing on tackling structural racism in health, Arielle Deutsch of Avera Health presented findings from a forthcoming article co-authored with MJ, titled “How Funding Policy Maintains Structural Inequity within Indigenous Community-based Organizations.”

The event featured panels on topics such as the legacy of racism in politics, the use of race and ethnicity data, and responses to systemic inequities. Arielle’s presentation highlighted how funding structures can reinforce disparities within Indigenous-led organizations, contributing to broader inequities in health and social outcomes.

We’re proud to see this work featured at such a high-impact forum, hosted by the leading health policy journal. Read the article here.
